Evolution Wave Condition Using WAVEWATCH III for Island Sheltered Area in the South China Sea

چکیده
Wave conditions around islands in the South China Sea (SCS) are of significant interest due to their importance for marine operations and coastal engineering. Understanding accurately predicting wave characteristics this region crucial. In study, third-generation model WAVEWATCH III is employed examine SCS. According water depth height, sea state island was classified into two categories: typhoon moderate state. Several popular wind input–dissipation source terms (ST2, ST4 ST6) used assess separately. The results validated by field data. ST6 show good performance height states, while ST2 at mean period. For state, gives best with larger correlation coefficients a smaller RMSE. above provide valuable insights effects different on accuracy simulations states. spatial distribution heights also demonstrated ST2, which may be useful assessing structures from large scale SCS Yongle Atoll.

South China Sea Wind-Wave Characteristics. Part I: Validation of Wavewatch-III Using TOPEX/Poseidon Data
A full-spectral third-generation ocean wind-wave model, Wavewatch-III, has been implemented in the South China Sea (SCS) for investigating wind-wave characteristics. This model was developed at the Ocean Modeling Branch of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP). The NASA QuickSCAT data (0.258 resolution) 2 times daily were used to simulate the wind waves for the entire year of...

In this study, the capabilities of WAWEWATCH-III and MIKE21-SW for predicting the characteristics ofwind-generated waves in Hormuz Strait are evaluated. The numerical models have been set up using Input data including GFS wind with 5° spatial resolution and 6 hours time intervals, along with the ETOPO1 bathymetry data with 2 arc-minute spatial resolutions. The results of the two model simulatio...

Phytoplankton in the surface layers of South China Sea, Western Philippines were investigated for species composition, distribution and abundance. Thirty one stations were sampled during the cruise of M/V SEAFDEC to South China Sea along latitudes 8° to 20°N and longitudes 115° to 121°E from April 15 to May 11,1998. In each station, water samples at the surface and at depths of 20, 40 and 60-m ...
متن کاملInternal Wave Energy Budget Studies in the South China Sea
We are focused on understanding small-scale processes that influence the ocean’s thermodynamic and dynamic properties on the sub-mesoscale (scales less than 10 km). This includes the role of turbulence in modifying the upper ocean temperature and density structure. In the South China Sea, largeamplitude, nonlinear waves force turbulence in the seasonally variable continental shelf region. New o...
